-I'm mad that Karl is gone and that if the internet is down here or there, we don't get to talk. And by talk, I mean communicate. And by communicate, I mean carry on our almost 3 year relationship that is quickly leading to nuptials.
-I'm mad that I had to go to school in hazardous conditions today when all of Fayetteville is still 6 feet under snow & ice.
-I'm mad that I just ruined my beautiful seafoam green quilt coverlet that my Gam gave me... vintage Saks... because I was studying for a test when Karl called, the internet went out, and I freaked out and mindlessly left the blue highlighter open, on the bed.
-I'm mad that I just took a test that I studied my butt off for and it didn't pay off and I'm mad that I'm drained and exhausted going for round two for tomorrow.
-I'm mad that my shower hasn't had
I probably won't be mad tomorrow, and as a recent article highlighted Matt Chandler's coping with his brain cancer, I too should be trying to "suffer well," because my fiance fighting war in the desert isn't that bad, nor are my hands that wreak of Shout, despite my worthless efforts to remove the stain that will undoubtedly send that precious quilt to the trash. Praise God that Karl is fighting war, ALIVE AND WELL, and that I have a backup quilt hung in my closet, freshly dry cleaned.
May God throw you all bones of justice... seriously.
Hang in there, Hannah. I'm mad that tomorrow is my last day with Kevin, and he's off to Afghanistan for another 5.5 months. One day we'll look back and, hopefully, laugh. I need to get back to writing more on my blog...I think it might help. Take care!
ReplyDeletehannah i love you. and i hate everything that stunk about this day but tomorrow is new - ptl. maybe we should go eat some hunan soon - or get some happy hour up in here.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to be so random, but I stumbled across your blog and I was so sorry to read you had such a bad day. This may be a little too late, but I would like to try and help with your highlighter stain situation. I am a law student, and unfortunately I am all too familiar with the perils of mixing open highlighters and a plethora of fabrics. I am not sure what kind (or kinds) of material comprise your beautiful coverlet so I will give you options for silk and cotton.
Silk: Silk is tricky because of the possibility of ruining the texture of the fabric. However, after a blue silk blouse of mine had a run in with a purple highlighter I found success by soaking the blouse in cold salt water and freezing it. I then hand washed the blouse in Woolite, and had it dry cleaned. Good as new!
Cotton: Cotton is a little easier just because it is a sturdier fabric. I have had considerable luck using a little rubbing alcohol to get highlighter out. Simply put a little on a tooth brush and gently work it over the stain. Then soak in cold water with detergent and repeat as necessary. However, since your coverlet is sea foam green and vintage I would suggest testing the rubbing alcohol in a discrete place before you go dumping a whole bottle over the stain. It could discolor the fabric.
If none of these work, consider using a little oxy clean (God Bless Billy Mays). Make a paste out of it using water and using a paper towel rub the paste over the stain in small circles. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then soak and launder.
I hope this helps! I truly would hate to see vintage Saks retired to the rubbish bin.
